Park Lighting Poles: PMO and PKO

Decorative poles for parks, squares, courtyards, embankments and retail complexes: multi-sided PMO, lightweight PLO and tapered PKO poles from 3 to 10 m high.

Park Lighting Poles: PMO and PKO

Purpose and design

Park poles are meant for lighting courtyards, squares, parks, filling stations, retail complex grounds, shops, kindergartens, embankment walks and cultural centres.

The design suits both underground (trench) and overhead cable supply. There is an electrical access hatch at the bottom of the pole above ground, where a protective circuit breaker can be fitted. We agree extra hatches and holes when the order is placed and make them to an individual design.

The poles have a modern appearance and a simple design. We make them on equipment for multi-sided poles.

Symbols

Total area of lighting fittings (Caer = 1, terrain type III) by wind pressure; Q and M are the loads at the pole base.

H: pole height; Hs: height of the pole with bracket; S: bracket reach from the pole axis;

∅a: top diameter; ∅b: bottom diameter; W: height of the access hatch; v: hatch width; Wp: distance from the hatch to the base of the pole;

B: centre distance between the base flange holes; n×d: number and diameter of anchor bolts;

Q: shear force at the pole base; M: bending moment at the pole base.

Lighting parks and landscaped areas

Parks are lit in the evening and at night so that people can relax safely and comfortably and the grounds have an aesthetic, romantic look. Where there is no mains supply, or to light remote areas, autonomous solar lighting can be used.

The type and height of the poles are chosen for the particular park. The choice depends on the historical and cultural value of the place, the density of planting, the width of paths, the number of benches and architectural elements (monuments, fountains, bridges).

In parks and landscaped areas the usual choice is LED luminaires on tapered or multi-sided poles four to eight metres high.

Protection and painting

The poles are protected against the aggressive environment by hot-dip galvanising to DSTU EN ISO 1461:2024. On request a paint coat of any colour is applied over the zinc. The price depends on the type, height and power of the luminaires; extra painting adds to it. Brackets, including decorative ones, are not included in the pole price and have a separate price list.

Park poles are set on foundations of various types; see the knowledge base articles on foundations and installation of lighting poles. For the areas next to parks, street and yard lighting poles are used.

Selecting a pole by luminaire area and mass

You do not have to look up the permissible luminaire area in the “Scope of application” table by hand: the pole selection calculator by luminaire area and mass compares your luminaires with these data and shows which poles suit the height, wind region and mounting scheme.
