6 m Lighting Poles: Ranges, Parameters, Price

Poles of 6 m are the usual height for parks, courtyards and minor streets. There are five ranges at this height, from the light-duty park PLO to the multi-sided street UMO. Below are their parameters and prices.

6 m Lighting Poles: Ranges, Parameters, Price

Which ranges are available at 6 m

  • PLO-6: a light-duty multi-sided park pole, the lightest of the multi-sided ranges;
  • PMO-6: a multi-sided park pole;
  • PKO-6: a park pole, conical and round in section;
  • UMO-6: a multi-sided street pole that also suits overhead cable supply;
  • UKO-6: a conical street pole.

The DMO road range is not made at 6 m; it starts at 7 m.

Where 6 m poles are used

Parks, squares, courtyards and small grounds are where 6 m is the usual height (PMO, PKO and UMO ranges). Footpaths that need lighter park lighting get the PLO. The street UMO-6 and the conical UKO-6 also suit minor access roads inside residential blocks. To choose the exact height for your site, see How to Choose the Height of a Lighting Pole.

Foundation and anchor cage

A 6 m pole is fixed to the foundation by its flange, on an anchor cage (for example, the FPO range). The cage size depends on the range and on the soil at the site. For details, see FPO, FPM, FKM Anchor Cages and Lighting Pole Foundations.

Price of a 6 m pole

The price depends on the range. Park poles (PLO, PMO, PKO) cost UAH 3,800 to 17,000 per unit including VAT; street poles (UMO, UKO), UAH 5,100 to 27,500. These figures are indicative, as of September 2026, and cover the whole height range of each series, so the price of a 6 m pole specifically comes from a calculation. What goes into the price is explained in How Much Does a Lighting Pole Cost or on the Lighting Pole Prices page.

Brackets and crossarms are not included in the pole price: they have a separate price list.

How wide a strip a 6 m pole lights

Apply the rules from How to Choose the Height of a Lighting Pole to a 6 m mounting height. Spacing is 3–4 times the height, so 18–24 m (6 × 3 and 6 × 4). To get the number of poles, divide the length of the section by the spacing and round up. For example, 100 ÷ 24 ≈ 4.2, so 5 poles; 100 ÷ 18 ≈ 5.6, so 6.

LayoutMaximum strip widthPoles per 100 m
One-sided6 m5–6
Staggered two-sided9 m (6 × 1.5)10–12
Opposite two-sided12 m (6 × 2)10–12

A guide for preliminary selection; the final answer comes from a lighting calculation. For two-sided layouts the number of poles is doubled because they stand on both sides: 2 × 5 = 10, 2 × 6 = 12.

Example: a 120 m pedestrian path, 4 m or 6 m poles

Take a path 120 m long and 3 m wide, with PMO poles in a single row. At 6 m there are fewer poles and foundations, but each pole is heavier, and the longer spacing needs a more powerful luminaire.

PoleSpacing, mPoles per 120 mTotal mass, kg
PMO-4 (36 kg)12–168–10288–360
PMO-6 (66 kg)18–245–7330–462

Calculation: 120 ÷ 16 = 7.5, so 8; 120 ÷ 18 ≈ 6.7, so 7. Mass is from the mass table.

Park or street pole at 6 m

The height is the same, but the poles are not: they differ in wall thickness and purpose. Cross-section shape is covered in Multi-sided or Conical Poles.

Mean zinc coating thickness on the shaft to ISO 1461 (by wall thickness), at least55 µm70 µm

These values apply to the shaft. For parts made of steel thicker than 6 mm the minimum mean thickness is higher (85 µm): all categories are in Zinc Coating Thickness under DSTU EN ISO 1461:2024.

What to state in a request for a 6 m pole

  • the range and number of poles;
  • the location (city, town or village): it sets the wind region, see Wind Regions of Ukraine;
  • the mass and number of luminaires, plus bracket projection and angle;
  • the level the 6 m is measured from: the ground or the flange plane;
  • the anchor cage for this pole’s flange, see Foundation Anchor Cages;
  • the colour, if the pole is to be painted over the zinc.

Common mistakes when choosing a 6 m pole

  • a 30 m spacing, as on a street, instead of 18–24 m: it leaves dark gaps between poles;
  • a strip wider than the pole is tall with a one-sided layout, such as a 7 m road with a single row of 6 m poles;
  • comparing pole prices without adding the anchor cage, brackets, crossarms and delivery, which the pole price does not include.

Selecting a pole by luminaire area and mass

You do not have to look up the permissible luminaire area and mass for a pole of this height in the tables by hand: the pole selection calculator by luminaire area and mass compares your luminaires with the catalogue data and shows which poles fit by height, wind region and mounting scheme.

6 m lighting poles: frequently asked questions

How much does a 6 m lighting pole weigh?

It depends on the range: PLO-6 is 52 kg, PMO-6 66 kg, PKO-6 48 kg, UMO-6 84 kg, UKO-6 63 kg.

Which 6 m pole should I take for a courtyard or a park?

For a park or courtyard, PMO-6, PKO-6 or the lighter PLO-6. For access roads inside residential blocks, UMO-6 or UKO-6.

How much does a 6 m lighting pole cost?

UAH 3,800 to 26,000 per unit including VAT, depending on the range. The exact price comes from a calculation for the chosen range and fit-out. Brackets and crossarms are not part of this price; they are priced separately.

Can I get a DMO road pole at 6 m?

No, DMO starts at 7 m. At 6 m you can choose from the park (PLO, PMO, PKO) and street (UMO, UKO) ranges.

What do you need from me for an exact calculation?

The range or purpose, the number of poles, the wind region and the fit-out you want. Leave blank anything you do not know and we will clarify it.

Is a 6 m pole enough for a 10 m wide road?

It depends on the layout. One-sided: no, the height must be at least 10 m. Staggered two-sided: still no, since 10 ÷ 1.5 ≈ 6.7, which means 7 m or more, so look at 8 m poles. Opposite two-sided: yes, 10 ÷ 2 = 5 m, so 6 m is enough. A lighting calculation gives the final answer.

What bracket projection should I use on a 6 m pole?

As a reference, EN 40-2 suggests a projection of no more than a quarter of the height: 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5 m. That is a guideline only, not a claim that our products conform to the standard. The bracket types are described in Brackets, Crossarms and Caps for Lighting Poles.

Does the choice of a 6 m pole depend on the city?

Yes, because of the wind region. Under DBN V.1.2-2:2006 the pressure W0 is 0.37 kPa in Kyiv and 0.52 kPa in Lviv: 0.52 ÷ 0.37 ≈ 1.4, so about 40% higher. Diameter, wall thickness and foundation come from a calculation for the specific luminaire.
