How to Choose a Floodlight Mast: the PM, PMK, PMV, PMT and PMO Ranges
Our floodlight mast ranges differ in purpose, lighting angle, crown and the presence of a ladder. We put them in one table and suggest what to choose for your site.
Ranges by purpose
The table lists all floodlight mast ranges by purpose.
| Range | Height, m | Feature | Ladder and service platform | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PM | 12–20 | fixed crown | none | road junctions, airports, logistics terminals, dry ports |
| PMK | 20–40 | mobile crown (winch) | none | the same sites as the PM |
| PMV | 16–34 | 360° lighting | yes | open industrial sites |
| PMT | 16–20 | 180° lighting | yes | stadiums and industrial sites with masts placed around the perimeter |
| PMO | 25 to 55; any height to order | inclined crown | yes | sports facilities |
PM and PMK masts are not used at substations; for substations there are the steel PMS-B masts.
How to choose by site
- road junction, airport (with red-and-white painted sections), logistics terminal, dry port: PM (12–20 m) or PMK (20–40 m, fittings are serviced at ground level);
- open industrial site where the mast stands inside the area: PMV (360° lighting);
- stadium or industrial site with masts placed around the perimeter: PMT (180° lighting);
- sports facility that needs an inclined crown and a height from 25 m: PMO;
- substation: PMS-B, steel equivalents of the standard PMS and PMZH: Floodlight Masts PMS and PMZH.
What else affects the choice
The exact height and the number of masts and floodlights are set by a lighting calculation. The loads on the mast depend on the wind region and terrain type, and the foundation is designed for the ground of the site. What data to prepare for the calculation is in How to Order Poles and Masts.
An overview of all ranges is on the page Floodlight Masts.

Choosing a floodlight mast: frequently asked questions
How does the PM differ from the PMK?
The crown of a PM mast is fixed, while on a PMK a winch lowers it to the ground so that the fittings are serviced without special equipment. PM is 12–20 m, PMK 20–40 m; neither has a ladder or service platform.
Which mast should I choose for a stadium?
PMT (180° lighting, 16–20 m) or PMO (inclined crown, 25 to 55 m, any height to order). The height and layout are set by a calculation: Stadium Lighting.
How does the PMV differ from the PMT?
In the lighting angle: the PMV lights 360° and stands inside the site, the PMT lights 180° and stands at the edge. Both masts have a ladder and a service platform.
