PMT Floodlight Masts: 180° Lighting, Applications and Design
A PMT mast lights an area in a 180° sector. We explain where it is used, how it is built and what you need to order one.
A PMT mast is a floodlight mast with a ladder and a service platform that lights an area through 180°; it is used at stadiums and at industrial sites with masts placed around the perimeter.

Where PMT masts are used
A PMT lights 180°, so these masts are placed along the edge of an area with the light directed inwards. They are used at stadiums and sports grounds and at open industrial sites where masts are placed around the perimeter. According to the catalogue, PMT masts are also meant for large open areas, HV substation switchyards, compressor and railway stations, construction sites and quarries, oil and gas production sites, storage yards and warehouses.
For 360° lighting there are PMV masts, and for sports facilities the PMO masts with an inclined crown. An overview of all ranges is on the page Floodlight Masts.
How a PMT mast is built
- mast height 16, 17, 18 or 20 m;
- the mast is fitted with a lightning rod, a service platform, rest platforms for the climb and a caged ladder;
- for easier transport the shaft is made of sections no longer than 12 m;
- corrosion protection is hot-dip galvanising;
- we design it individually for the required illuminance and list of equipment.
Designation
The designation follows a scheme: PMT is the mast type, then the support height in metres, the wind region, the terrain type and the maximum equipment area in square metres. For example, PMT-20-3.III-2: height 20 m, wind region 3, terrain type III, maximum equipment area 2 m².
How to order a PMT mast
Send the mast height, the number and type of floodlights, the wind region, the terrain type and the city. We calculate the design, propose a foundation and quote the price and lead time; erection is carried out by a licensed construction partner company.

PMT masts: frequently asked questions
How does the PMT differ from the PMV?
In the lighting angle: the PMT lights 180°, the PMV 360°. Both masts have a ladder and a service platform.
Is the PMT suitable for a stadium?
Yes. The PMT lights 180°, so it is used at stadiums and sports grounds. The height and layout are set by a lighting calculation; details are on the page Stadium Lighting. For sports facilities there are also PMO masts with an inclined crown.
What heights do PMT masts come in?
According to the catalogue, 16 to 20 m. We calculate any other height to order.
