What the Flagpole Supply Includes and What the Customer Does

The flagpole supply includes the flagpole itself, the lifting mechanism, the flag and the embedded part. The electrical side, the foundation, earthing and, where needed, obstruction lights stay with the customer. We set out the division of responsibility in detail.

What the supply includes

  • the flagpole: shaft with sections, top pulley or rotating head, hatch with a lock (in the FShL and FShP series);
  • the lifting mechanism: electric drive (FShP series) or hand winch (FShL series);
  • a remote control (FShP series only);
  • the flag and fastening fittings;
  • a “trident” finial if the customer wants one;
  • the embedded part (anchor block): we design, make and supply it, priced separately.

What the customer does

  • the foundation for the local geological conditions (designed by a design organisation);
  • the project for placing the flagpole at the specific point: we can do it on request, but local design organisations usually do;
  • all electrical work to connect the drive: cables, wires, circuit breakers, couplings and other electrical parts;
  • earthing and lightning protection to DSTU EN 62305-3;
  • obstruction lights and an uninterruptible power supply for them, if they are needed.

Embedded part and foundation loads

The standard embedded part is an anchor block. Its mark consists of the letters FZ and the flagpole mark. We pass the designer the loads needed to fix the flagpole, while the foundation for those loads and the local geology is designed by a design organisation. The embedded part costs from UAH 6,000 incl. VAT for the FShR series, from UAH 23,000 for FShL and from UAH 36,000 for FShP. More about the foundation is in How to install a flagpole.

Electrics, earthing and lightning protection

All electrical work to connect the drive is done by the customer. Earthing and lightning protection follow DSTU EN 62305-3: see Lightning protection for masts and towers for the requirements.

Obstruction lights

Whether obstruction lights are needed depends on the location relative to aerodromes, not only on height: there is no single “from 40 m” limit. That is why we agree the lights with the customer in each case and settle the equipment at the time of order. We pass on the documents the customer needs for the approval.

For reference: the Air Code of Ukraine (Article 68) obliges owners of objects and obstacles in an aerodrome area that rise above the obstacle limitation surfaces to install day and night marking under aviation rules. The owners bear the costs. Check the current wording of the rules.

Documents, warranty and lead time

The customer receives a data sheet, a certificate, an assembly drawing and the assembly and erection instruction. The warranty is 2 years. Manufacturing takes about 6 weeks.

Erection and equipment

Erection is usually done by the customer or an organisation they hire; if needed we arrange erection by a partner. The equipment needed is defined by the work execution plan drawn up by the customer or a design organisation. How a tall flagpole is assembled and lifted is described in Assembling a tall flagpole.

Flagpole supply: frequently asked questions

Is the embedded part included in the price of the flagpole?

No, we design, make and supply the embedded part (anchor block) separately, and its price is separate.

Who does the electrical work?

All electrical work to connect the drive is done by the customer: cables, circuit breakers, couplings and other parts.

Are obstruction lights needed?

That depends on the location relative to aerodromes. We agree the need for lights with the customer in each case.

How much does a flagpole cost?

The FShR series starts from UAH 25,000 incl. VAT, FShL from UAH 200,000, FShP from UAH 500,000. We work out the final cost for your height and flag on request.

What warranty does a flagpole have?

Two years.
