What’s in the catalogue
The «TP-PSM110.18.01» catalogue is a unified design solution for steel multi-sided gantries for 110 kV open switchyards, POLYGONAL, 2018.
Inside: general data and contents (p. 1), general notes — marking, design, materials, calculation (p. 2-3), installation schemes for 12 gantry types — PSM-110Y1 to PSM-110Y12 (p. 4-15), an order questionnaire (p. 16).

Post height to the crossarm is 11,350 mm for all 12 types; the bay (post spacing) is 9,000 mm. Posts with a ground-wire post and lightning rod reach up to 19,350 mm. From the TP-PSM110.18.01 catalogue.
Who it’s for
The gantries are designed for 110 kV open switchyards at substations — as line-entry, busbar and power-transformer gantries.
Suitable for wind regions 1-5, ice regions 1-6 (including combined wind-and-ice loads per PUE:2026), seismic intensity up to 6 points, pollution degree I-IV, air temperatures from −40 to +40 °C.
How to order
Manufactured to TU U 25.1-39573934-002:2018. Post cross-section is a regular dodecagon; all 12 types are calculated as terminal (anchor-type) gantries. Fixed to the foundation through a flange; the foundation is designed individually for the site’s geotechnical conditions. Hot-dip galvanising is at least 80 microns. Design service life is 50 years.
To order, state the gantry type (Y1-Y12) or the design loads and wind/ice region in the questionnaire (p. 16 of the catalogue) or in our technical specification form.
Example: reading the catalogue and choosing a gantry type
Say you need a gantry with three bays. In the table above these are types Y5, Y6, Y7 and Y12: 3 bays × 9 m = 27 m, 4 posts. They differ in their ground-wire posts and lightning rods, and the exact set is listed in the specification on the installation scheme.
Type Y6 (sheet 9) has no lightning protection: 2 end posts KS1, 2 intermediate posts SS1 and 3 crossarms TR1 (one per bay). Type Y5 (sheet 8) has the same frame plus 2 ground-wire posts TS1 and 2 lightning rods MP1 on the end posts; the full height of such a post is 11,350 + 3,000 + 5,000 = 19,350 mm.
| Mark | Element | Quantity across types Y1–Y12 |
|---|---|---|
| KS1 | end post | 2 in every type |
| SS1 | intermediate post | from 0 (Y1–Y3) to 4 (Y9–Y11) |
| TR1 | crossarm | one per bay, 1–5 |
| TS1 | ground-wire post, 3,000 mm above the crossarm | from 0 to 6 |
| MP1 | lightning rod, 5,000 mm | from 0 to 3 |
From the specifications on the installation schemes (sheets 4–15).
What to prepare for the questionnaire
The questionnaire (sheet 16) has 44 items. It is worth gathering in advance:
- site conditions: wind and ice regions, seismicity on the MSK-64 scale, minimum, maximum and mean annual temperatures, altitude above sea level;
- conductors and ground wire: types, number of conductors per phase, maximum stresses in them, insulator-string attachment type, insulators; spans (overall, weight and wind);
- the gantry: type (Y1–Y12), overall dimensions, conductor arrangement, crossarm type (multi-sided or lattice), post sections, connection to the foundation, a sketch.
All fields are mandatory; where data is not available, a dash is entered.

Questions about the 110 kV switchyard gantries
How do the 12 gantry types Y1-Y12 differ?
By the number of bays — from 1 to 5, i.e. a length from 9 to 45 m — and by the ground-wire posts and lightning rods fitted for direct-strike lightning protection: from none at all to protection on every post.
Can you make gantries for other voltage classes?
Yes, we manufacture similar gantries for 35, 150, 220, 330, 500 and 750 kV switchyards, calculated individually for the site’s input data.
How is a designation such as PSM-110Y7 read?
According to the catalogue (sheet 2), it is a steel multi-sided gantry for a 110 kV switchyard, of the feeder-bay (cell) type, type 7. The type number matches the installation scheme: Y7 is on sheet 10.
What is provided for safe maintenance of the gantry?
Safety handrails on the crossarms allow safe movement. In service, the catalogue calls for periodic visual inspection: areas with damaged zinc coating must be restored (sheet 3).
