What the brochure shows
This is a photo brochure: it has no drawings or parameter tables, only five sports facilities with POLYGONAL masts. Below is what each sheet shows; further on, how to estimate the parameters for your own site.
- sheet 1: the cover, “Sports Lighting. Floodlight Masts”, with photos of masts carrying floodlights at the top;
- sheet 2: Arena Buzova, Kyiv region — a football pitch lit by masts at night and a view of the stadium from above;
- sheet 3: Arena Spartak, Zhytomyr — a football pitch, a running track and a covered stand, with a mast carrying floodlights next to the stand;
- sheet 4: Youth Palace, Vinnytsia — a football pitch with masts and a close-up of a floodlight block;
- sheet 5: Partisan Glory Park, Kyiv — a tall mast among trees and a close-up of the floodlights on the shaft;
- sheet 6: Ivano-Frankivsk — a pitch behind a mesh fence, masts with floodlights and a close-up of floodlights on a bracket;
- sheet 7: the company’s contact details.
| Sheet | Facility | Mast height, m | Pitch size, m | Illuminance, lx |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | Arena Buzova, Kyiv region | 16 | 100×65 | 250 |
| 3 | Arena Spartak, Zhytomyr | 16 | 100×60 | 200 |
| 4 | Youth Palace, Vinnytsia | 16 | 100×60 | 200 |
| 5 | Partisan Glory Park, Kyiv | 25 | — | — |
| 6 | Ivano-Frankivsk (mini-football pitch) | 10 | 42×25 | 200 |
Figures are from our “Projects” page; the brochure itself gives none. These heights fall outside the PMV series (20, 24, 30 and 34 m): such masts are calculated for the specific site.
Example: estimating mast height and choosing a size
The height of a mast for a sports pitch is estimated with the formula from our sports lighting guide: Hm = d × tan α. Here d is the distance from the centre of the pitch (for masts along the touchline, from its longitudinal axis) to the mast, and the angle α between the horizontal and the line to the bottom row of floodlights must be at least 25°; tan 25° ≈ 0.466.
Take a 105×68 m pitch — the smallest size in the range given in our sports lighting guide (length 105–110 m, width 68–75 m; the football pitches at the facilities above are smaller — 100×65 and 100×60 m). Masts may not stand within 5 m of the pitch perimeter. For two layouts the estimate is as follows:
| Mast position | Distance d, m | Hm = d × 0.466, m | PMV size to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Along the touchline, 8 m from it (an assumption) | 68 / 2 + 8 = 42 | 42 × 0.466 ≈ 19.6 | PMV-24 (PMV-20 leaves almost no margin) |
| In a corner of the pitch, 70 m from the centre (an assumption) | 70 | 70 × 0.466 ≈ 32.6 | PMV-34 (small margin) |
Hm is the height of the lowest row of floodlights; the top of the mast is higher by the size of the crown. This is a rough estimate: the final height is set by the lighting calculation. For a football pitch, masts lower than 15 m are not recommended. Suppose a mast carries 12 floodlights of up to 0.2 m² each (an illustrative figure): the windward area of the equipment is up to 12 × 0.2 = 2.4 m², which is within the 3.2 m² allowed for PMV masts (up to 16 floodlights).
What to check and where to read next
The height, the number of masts and the number of floodlights are set by a lighting calculation that takes into account the competition class and the pitch size. The loads on the mast depend on the wind region and the terrain type, and the foundation is designed for the soil conditions at the site. More detail is in these materials:
- Sports stadium lighting guide — competition classes I–V, permitted zones for masts, illuminance levels;
- Stadium and sports field lighting — typical layouts for a football pitch and a tennis court: the number of masts and floodlights;
- Floodlight masts — applications, fixed and mobile crowns, the foundation;
- Catalogue TP-PMV.21.01 — masts PMV-20, PMV-24, PMV-30 and PMV-34 with foundation anchor cages;
- How to order poles and masts — what data to prepare for the calculation.
Questions about sports lighting
Does the brochure give technical specifications of the masts?
No: it is a photo brochure with five facilities (sheets 2–6), a cover (sheet 1) and contact details (sheet 7). The specifications of the PMV masts are in the TP-PMV.21.01 catalogue, and the pitch lighting layouts are in the article on stadiums.
How tall are the masts at the facilities in the brochure?
According to our “Projects” page, from 10 m (a mini-football pitch in Ivano-Frankivsk) to 25 m (Partisan Glory Park in Kyiv); at Arena Buzova, Arena Spartak and the Youth Palace the masts are 16 m high.
What data is needed to calculate a mast for my pitch?
The height and type of crown, the type, dimensions, weight and number of floodlights and where they go, the wind region, the terrain type, seismicity and a plan of the site or pitch. Leave blank whatever you do not know and we will clarify it during the calculation.
